Three hornbeam beads, each no wider than a peppercorn, threaded onto two slim steel tubes in an alternating rhythm from hook to tip. The Mila Earrings run 2.15 inches, and because the tubes hold the beads in place rather than letting them hang free, each earring swings as a single line — it moves with you rather than jangling. Hornbeam is the outlier in Aarikka's workshop: a pale European hardwood so dense it is called ironwood, chosen here because beads this small have to hold their shape and their edge. The red is mixed to a formula the workshop has kept to itself since the 1950s, so it sinks into the grain and comes back with a faint shimmer rather than a flat coat of paint. Sterling silver and nickel-free plated brass throughout.
