The Corona blanket has a story worth telling. Finnish textile designer Marja Rautiainen, educated at what is now Aalto University and one of Lapuan Kankurit's most celebrated collaborators, discovered a fragment of old French fabric whose rounded shapes stopped her in her tracks. She wanted to translate that rhythm into wool — but not a conventional wool blanket. What she envisioned had to be something thinner and lighter than tradition allowed, yet genuinely warm. The weaving process required to achieve it took considerable planning and innovation at Lapuan Kankurit's mill in Lapua. The result earned the Muoto 2015 award for Finnish design.
