Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi painted the Piccolo stripe in 1953, the year she joined Marimekko, laying the lines down with a brush so they carry movement rather than machine precision. Three years later the Jokapoika shirt made from that fabric reached the streets, and it has stayed there ever since. Here the stripe runs in black and blue across a compact shoulder bag. The Marimekko Iloisa Piccolo Shoulder Bag has two separate zipped compartments with cord pullers and a mesh pocket inside the front one, along with a removable cord strap with a thin shoulder pad and an adjustment stopper. Measuring 7 inches wide, it is sized for a phone, cards and keys on a hands-free day. Made from recycled polyester with a recycled silicone logo patch on the front.
