Rather than printing Maija Isola's poppy onto a rectangle, this bath mat is cut into the shape of the flower itself, petal by petal, so the Unikko silhouette lies across the bathroom floor. The tufted surface is dense organic cotton terry in plum, pink and warm brown, soft enough underfoot straight out of a hot shower, and a non-slip backing holds it in place. Because each mat is hand-cut, no two petals fall in exactly the same way. The Marimekko Unikko Bath Mat measures 29 inches across. Wash it separately in a net bag, dry it flat and away from direct heat, and expect the non-slip treatment to soften gradually with washing.
