Erja Hirvi's Ensikukat print takes its name from the Finnish word for "first flowers," and it catches them the way they first arrive: loose, quick strokes of stems, buds and opening petals, closer to a sketchbook page than a botanical study. Deep dark blue reads clearly against a soft off white ground. The Marimekko Ensikukat Cushion Cover measures 20 by 20 inches, is made from unbleached cotton printed in Helsinki, and closes with a concealed side zipper for easy removal of an insert. Machine washable, and graphic enough to hold its own on a plain sofa or an unadorned bed.
