Red hornbeam beads no wider than a peppercorn alternate with slim polished tubes the whole length of the Mila Necklace, a rhythm fine enough to read as a chain from across the room and as something handmade up close. At 31.5 to 35.5 inches it is long by design — wear it full length over a sweater, or doubled for a shorter, denser look. The lobster clasp slides along a short extender chain that ends in a polished ball engraved with the aarikka wordmark, a small signature that swings loose at the nape and finishes the piece. Hornbeam is denser than the maple Aarikka usually works in, which is what allows beads this small to be turned true, and each one takes the red slightly differently depending on the tree it came from.
