Maija Isola designed the Unikko (poppy) in 1964 as a deliberate act of creative defiance — a lush, joyful counterpoint to Marimekko's otherwise abstract collections. In the Arvaus cardigan, that iconic bloom is rendered as a tonal jacquard in off-white and light grey, pattern and fabric woven quietly into one.
The slim, straight silhouette is finished with narrow ribbing at the cuffs and hem and a clean O-neck with full button closure. The blend of 51% organic cotton, 2% Polyamide and 47% Wool — traceable to farms practicing regenerative principles — is soft against the skin and warm without bulk. This is Finnish design built to be worn for years, not seasons.
