Matti Pikkujämsä draws every morning before anything else. The Helsinki-based illustrator — winner of the Finnish State Prize for Illustration, the Rudolf Koivu Award, and Finland's inaugural Illustrator of the Year title in 2019 — works with a humorous, deeply affectionate eye for Finnish everyday life, and that sensibility runs through everything he has created for Lapuan Kankurit in their collaboration since 2010.

The Metsikkö wool blanket is among his most immersive designs. Metsikkö means grove in Finnish, and the pattern delivers exactly that: a warm cognac forest scene woven in jacquard at Lapuan Kankurit's mill in Lapua, dense with branches, berries, botanical details, and a fox moving through it all with the casual ease of an animal at home in its territory. The illustration wraps across the full expanse of the blanket, making it feel less like a textile pattern and more like stepping into a Finnish forest at the golden hour of autumn.

Made from 100% pure new wool, brushed to a soft finish that sits comfortably against bare skin, the Metsikkö Finnish blanket is warm and generously sized at 51 by nearly 71 inches. A statement Finnish gift for anyone who loves art, nature, or the particular warmth of Finnish humor.
