Terva — tar — is one of the defining scents of Finnish sauna culture, and Vaasan Tar Shower Shampoo carries it at a gentle strength: clearly smoky and resinous, without the boldness some tar products hit you with. The concentrated liquid shower soap is made with real pine tar from Finnish nature and bottled in Vaasa by the same soap maker behind the original Finnish sauna soaps.

It's a shower shampoo in the Finnish sense — one bottle for hair and the whole body. There are no added dyes or perfumes, so the color and the smoky pine scent both come from the tar itself. Glycerin keeps the wash gentle, and the lather rinses clean, leaving a soft trace of tar behind. The flip-top 8.45 fl oz bottle is vegan and biodegradable, and it packs easily into a sauna bag or a gift basket. Vaasan Saippua has been making soap in Vaasa since 1886.
