Rento Finnish Vihta (Vasta in Eastern Finland) is made of birch. It is used in traditional sauna-bathing for massage and stimulation of the skin. Skillfully dried and packaged birch sauna whisk retain it’s scents. Enjoy the circulation-improving effects of a sauna whisk all year round.
How to use:
Remove plastic packaging but leave netting intact. Soak in lukewarm water for 15-25 minutes. Undo the netting and let it sit in the same water for another 5-10 minutes. The whisk is now ready to use. Place in a fresh bucket of water while not in use. After your finished, rinse the whisk off and let it dry. Reusable by following the same instructions.

The leaves had already started crumbling before i opened the box; even after removing the protective cellophane and thoroughly soaking the vihta for several hours, the leaves continued to crumble into small pieces. I had thought about ordering a vihta for over a year, and finally decided to try one; it came packaged the same way you can buy one commercially in Finland, but i think the old-fashioned way is best ~ picked fresh from the forest. Oh well, live and learn, and you don’t know until you try….
Nice to have, but not as fresh and nice smelling as new ones in Finland - expected but I miss the fresh smell of new birch leaves.
