Named for the individual feather shaved from a Finnish firestarter stick, the Kiehinen puukko earns its name in the field. It's a knife shaped by purpose — compact enough for confident control, but capable enough to carry all day through camp, forest, and water.
The Nordic scandi grind — a hallmark of Marttiini's blade geometry since 1928 — creates a thick spine that tapers cleanly to the edge, giving excellent control for feathering kindling, preparing bait at the water's edge, or fine detail work in camp and field. Because carbon steel isn't fully corrosion-resistant, a quick rinse, dry, and light oiling after use keeps it performing at its best — a small ritual that rewards you with a blade that only improves over time.
The handle is wax-treated Finnish curly birch, a wood prized across Finnish knife-making for its naturally interlocking grain, which resists splitting and provides a sure grip even in wet or cold conditions. Every handle carries its own distinct figure — no two are alike. A natural leather sheath, stamped with the Marttiini crest, rounds out the kit.
An excellent everyday puukko for campers, woodworkers, and bushcraft enthusiasts — and a worthy introduction to Finnish knife tradition.

Full disclosure - I'm of Finnish decent so I tend to favor products made in Finland. However, I also like Marttiini knives and own four of them; this latest, a Witches Tooth, and two of their fillet knives. All of them are well made, attractive, well priced, and very functional. Enough said.
