The Lapp knife — known in Finnish as the leuku — is one of the defining knife forms of northern Scandinavia, shaped over centuries by the Sámi people of Lapland. Its character comes from a distinctive silhouette: a broad, high blade that holds its width toward the tip, a full-pommel handle built for a secure grip in gloves, and a design philosophy rooted in reliability across unpredictable Arctic conditions. The Marttiini Lapp Knife 245 is that tradition with one practical addition — a finger guard that gives added control and keeps the hand in place even in cold or wet conditions, making it an excellent choice for those new to Scandinavian knives alongside those well acquainted with them.
The stainless chrome steel blade measures 5.1 inches, etched with a traditional Lapland scene — a detail carried through to the embossed natural leather sheath, which closes with a snap button and rides cleanly on a belt or pack strap. The handle is turned from varnished curly birch, its swirling grain pattern unique to each piece, warm and secure in hand.
A well-made Finnish outdoor knife with genuine heritage behind it — equally suited to the field and to a well-considered gift.
