For ancient people, the moose was a mythical creature — born in the stars, it is said, and sent to earth as a wise wayfarer of the forest. One who chose the moose as their spirit animal was believed to rise onto its strong feet and cross even the most challenging terrain with confidence and ease. The Marttiini Moose Knife honors that legend through a cast bronze ferrule that captures the moose in full.
The 4.3-inch blade is forged from carbon steel — a material that demands a little more care than stainless but rewards that attention with exceptional sharpness and edge retention. Carbon steel holds a finer, keener edge and will develop a natural patina over time that only adds to its character. It should be dried and lightly oiled after use to keep it at its best.
The handle is shaped from thermally treated curly birch — heat-cured to deepen its color to a rich, warm brown and strengthen its resistance to moisture. The cast bronze moose ferrule anchors the top of the handle, detailed and substantial in hand. No two handles are alike, the natural curly birch grain ensuring each knife is its own.
The black vegetable-tanned leather sheath is fitted with a brass collar and stamped with a moose silhouette in gold — a fitting finish to a knife built around one image. The Moose Knife arrives in a wooden gift box, ready to give.
