Aarikka began in 1954 with a carved wooden button, and the round bead is what that became. The Karpalo Earrings are that idea with nothing added: one maple sphere, just over half an inch across, hanging from a slim hook with a small brass bead beneath. In black the sphere reads almost graphic against the skin, and the finish stays matte rather than lacquered, so the grain is still faintly there when you look closely. Each pair drops 1.2 inches on nickel-free findings. Wood at this size weighs so little that the earrings hang level and stay put through a full day — not something you can say of a metal bead the same width. They work as easily with tailoring as with a heavy winter sweater.
