The iittala Taika White Rectangle Plate is made of vitro porcelain, shallow and low-sided, with the illustration printed across the face and the underside left plain.
Taika is Finnish for magic, and the pattern has been on tables since Klaus Haapaniemi drew it in 2007. Here they keep watch from slim trees hung with berries and blossom, a long-necked fox standing among the trunks below, the whole scene drawn in soft blues, greys and warm browns against white. The layers surface a few at a time rather than all at once.
